TOP STORY
✅ Adobe releases Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and Lightroom updates
This week, Adobe hosted its annual Adobe Max 2024 event, and there was way, way, way too much to cover. In fact, 20+ new features were announced at the event.
So… we’re dedicating this week’s newsletter to everything announced at the event (only the most notable updates).
Here’s a quick recap of what was announced👇️
1) Adobe Photoshop 🖼️
Photoshop has a new “Find Distractions” tool that automatically finds and removes unwanted objects like people, wires, and cables with just one click.
You don’t even need to brush over the distractions anymore.
Additionally, tools like Generative Fill and Generative Expand are now available for everyone, and they’ve been improved with the latest Firefly model, which creates more realistic images and better understands complex prompts.
Plus, the web app can automatically select all objects in an image to make editing quicker!
2) Adobe Premiere Pro 📹️
Adobe Firefly’s AI video model is now integrated into Premiere Pro, introducing a powerful new feature called “Generative Extend.”
This tool allows users to add up to two extra seconds of video footage (and up to 10 seconds of audio), making it easier for creators to extend a clip when they need more frames.
Generative Extend is now available for you to try in Premiere Pro (beta).
3) Adobe Illustrator ✍️
Adobe Illustrator has a cool new “Objects on Path” feature that lets you easily attach, arrange, and move objects along any shape, giving designers more control over their layouts.
The Mockup tool for staging designs on 3D models is now available to everyone, making it easier to visualize how designs will look.
Additionally, the Image Trace feature, which converts raster images (like JPEGs and PNGs) into scalable vectors, has been improved to produce sharper and more accurate vector outputs with cleaner lines.
4) Adobe Lightroom 📸
Adobe Lightroom’s “Generative Remove” is now available on mobile (and desktop).
By circling or brushing over objects, you can eliminate unwanted elements quickly across the entire Lightroom ecosystem, including mobile, desktop, and web.
Additionally, Lightroom introduced “Quick Actions,” which uses AI to create masks and suggest edits.
This feature is ideal for fast, on-the-go photo retouching, like automatically detecting and masking teeth, eyes, and skin in portraits.

NEW TOOLS
😳 Adobe’s releases “Project Concept” and “Substance 3D Viewer”
In addition to updates to its current suite of tools, Adobe also announced the release of two brand-new tools!
Here’s a quick breakdown of the two new tools 👇️
1) Adobe “Project Concept” 🖼️
Adobe announced a new mood-boarding tool called “Project Concept,” designed to help creatives brainstorm and explore ideas using AI.
Project Concept uses Adobe’s Firefly Generative AI models, which allow designers to quickly generate ideas, combine assets, transform regions, and remix styles, giving them more flexibility and freedom in the early stages of their projects.
The tool supports collaborative work and integrates seamlessly with Adobe Creative Cloud apps like Photoshop and Illustrator.
Project Concept is currently in early testing and will soon be available in private beta.
2) Adobe Substance 3D Viewer (Beta) 📦️
Adobe has introduced Substance 3D Viewer (Beta), a free desktop app that allows users to open, view, and design with 3D models.
This app integrates seamlessly with Photoshop (beta), letting you drag and drop 3D models into your 2D designs as editable Smart Objects.
This opens up new creative possibilities by allowing users to adjust the camera angle, lighting, and materials of 3D objects while working within familiar Photoshop workflows.
With Substance 3D Viewer (beta), you can render over 70 file formats and fine-tune 3D models before integrating them into your Photoshop designs.
The app is currently available for free in public beta.

Project Turntable: Rotate 2D vector drawings in 3D while maintaining their original 2D style and shape, allowing for a fresh perspective without losing any key design elements.
Project In Motion: Create animations by describing your desired effect, turning custom shapes into motion, and enabling text-to-animation conversion based on After Effects projects, with the option to use reference images for style customization.
