🎬️ Meta announces “Movie Gen”

Meta has introduced Movie Gen, a new AI tool that creates videos from text prompts and can edit existing footage.

Here’s what’s possible with Movie Gen:

Create videos with SFX! 🎵

Movie Gen can generate high-quality clips complete with AI-produced audio, such as sound effects and background music.

Text input: Whistling sounds, followed by a sharp explosion and loud crackling.

Edit video with text đź“ť

Users can also upload photos or change various elements with text instructions to personalize the videos.

Create personalized videos 👤

You can even upload a picture of yourself, and Movie Gen’s sophisticated AI will turn it into a custom video that preserves your likeness and realistic motion.

Text input summary: Make a cute selfie video of a man and his dog. The man is wearing a black shirt. The dog is a beagle puppy. The background is a backyard patio, filled with trees. The man has a big smile on his face, as he tries to take the perfect selfie with his dog. The lighting is warm.

The technology is still in testing and isn’t ready for public release due to the high costs and slow generation times.

Meta is competing with companies like OpenAI, which launched a similar tool called “Sora” earlier this year, although neither has been made widely available yet.

  • Framer/Figma Sync: Sync color and text styles from Figma to Framer.

  • Unsplash: Browse & search the biggest collection of high-quality stock photos from Unsplash directly in Framer

  • LottieFiles: Access 500,000+ ready-to-use, free, and premium customizable Lottie animations for your websites.

Plus, Framer announced “CMS Collection References,” which enable users to connect different CMS collections seamlessly.

  • Essentially, this feature lets you easily pull information from one collection to another, saving you time and keeping everything updated automatically.

  • For example, now you can create a separate collection for authors and link it to your blog post collection.

  • This automatically pulls author details for each post, ensuring consistent updates across all references.

Framer also introduced “multi-reference fields” for linking multiple items, such as tags or categories.

You can nest references, allowing deeper data integration and new possibilities for complex information display.

💡 “CMS Collections” are like organized groups of related content (e.g., blog posts, products, authors) that you can easily manage and display across your site.
