TOP STORY
🧵 Photoshop releases “Embroidery” filter

Locating the new Parametric Filter (đź“ą Howard Pinsky)

This week, a new embroidery “Parametric Filter” was released in Photoshop (beta), enabling you to transform your images or designs to look like they’re made of stitched or embroidered fabric.

It gives you settings to generate realistic textures, thread patterns, and shading to give your artwork a handcrafted, sewn look.

To access this filter in Photoshop (Beta), go to “Filter” > “Parametric Filters” > “Embroidery.”

đź“ą Howard Pinsky

“Parametric Filters” in Photoshop allow you to make detailed effects and adjustments by controlling the settings.

Instead of applying one basic filter, you can adjust different parts of it to get the exact look you want.

For example, in the new Embroidery filter, you can adjust the following settings 👇️

  • Light Angle

  • Density

  • Fill/Outline Tightness

  • Thread (Thickness and Length)

  • Colors

  • And more!

Think of it as customizing a filter to fit your design perfectly.

3D/4D DESIGN
🤖 BLENDERGPT: Generate 3D assets in ~20 seconds

This week, BLENDERGPT (by Aarya) was released — it’s an advanced tool designed to turn text or image prompts into fully textured 3D models in roughly 20 seconds.

  • BLENDERGPT supports seamless integration with Blender (a popular free 3D design tool), where users can import generated assets directly into their scenes or download the source files for use in other compatible software.

  • With this tool users can type prompts like “PlayStation controller” or even “LEGO minifigure of Superman,” and the software rapidly converts these into high-quality 3D assets that are ready for positioning and shading.

  • Beyond text, Blender GPT can also create 3D models from images, allowing users to upload a photo—like a shoe design—and get an instantly generated, textured 3D mesh.

This flexibility offers tremendous potential for designers and 3D artists looking to speed up production times.

BLENDERGPT builds on an earlier version that used GPT-4 for simple 3D shape generation.

The new model now employs a 3D diffusion approach, significantly enhancing its ability to produce more complex and detailed models.

BLENDERGPT is going to be released in mid-November 2024 (so very soon!), and is currently open in a waitlist.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
👤 KREA AI releases “Custom LoRAs”

This week, KREA AI released “Custom LoRAs,” allowing you to essentially train your own AI model based of your own images and styles.

  • Custom LoRAs (Low-Rank Adaptation models) are specialized AI models that allow you to fine-tune and personalize a larger AI model with specific data.

  • By training a custom LoRA, you can teach the AI to recognize unique styles, specific characters, branded products, or any other visual elements you want it to learn.

  • Instead of relying on general AI outputs, you get more consistent and customized results tailored to your own needs.

This is powerful for creators who want character consistency across different images or scenes, distinct art styles that reflect their brand, and accurate representations of real products
